Two different opportunities in Nottingham have just opened for applicants to train to be a nurse via an Apprenticeship.
Option One – Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship (3 years)
The Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship leads to a BSc (Hons) qualification and professional registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council. The programme runs for 3 years and is a combination of theoretical learning and practical placements.
Pay
- Year one – £160 per week
- Years two and three – national minimum wage (age related)
Entry Requirements
Three level two qualifications and a level three qualification
Level two qualifications must be inclusive of Maths and English GCSE A-C/4-9 or Functional skills equivalent PLUS a level two Health or Science related subjected.
PLUS
Level three qualification equating to 112 UCAS points.
OR
Applicants with current and relevant work experience who achieve 96 UCAS Tariff Points and above may be considered for recognition of prior learning (RPL) and experience (RPE)
This is an exciting opportunity to join Nottingham University Hospitals as a Student Nurse Apprentice, in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University to gain a BSc in Adult Nursing.

Option Two – Graduate Entry MSc Apprenticeship (2 years – must have degree already)
The Graduate Entry Nursing Programme leads to a Masters Level (MSc) qualification and professional registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council. The programme runs for 2 years and is a combination of theoretical learning and practical placements.
Pay
- Year one – £160 per week
- Years two and three – £17,000 per annum
Entry Requirements
- Essential: Honours degree 2:2 or above
- Essential: Grade C (or Grade 4) maths and English (or equivalent)
- Desirable: Grade C science
- Essential: 450hrs of work experience (equivalent to 12 full-time (37.5 hrs weeks) in a service user context obtained in the last five years
- Experience of education or study within the last five years is preferred
International qualifications are welcome but must be assessed against NARIQ
As an Apprentice you will complete your Nursing MSc Degree and qualification after 24 months, debt free, as a Registered Nurse in associate with University of Derby. As well as this being “fee-free”, throughout your 24 months, you will be paid an Apprentice salary.
