The Association of Apprentices (AOA) is a new national organisation, based in Nottingham for apprentices. Their aim is to provide support, information and guidance beyond what someone may receive from their employer and/or training provider.
The AOA wants to be led by a council of apprentices, who actively get involved and shape their agenda. Courtney Short is an apprentice at Nottingham University Hospitals and has become a member of the national council. Courtney, who has attended two meetings so far, is clearly excited by the AOA and what it wants to achieve.
She says ‘I believe that by being an active member of the AOA, it will provide me with the opportunity to network with individuals of all different backgrounds, levels and power. This opportunity will give me the chance to learn and grow and develop as an individual and enhance my current personal skills.’
